Gnanavallal Paranjothi Mahan never advocated a formal dress code for disciples. As long as one is decently
dressed and comfortable it is enough. Nowadays we see women disciples
wearing all white. This has nothing to do with gaining Wisdom. Mahan used
to wear a hair netting and removes it during meditation time. This was to
ensure his long hair to be kept neatly and he also wears black socks
so as to retain body heat. After Mahan's Samadhi, some Gurus both in India
and Malaysia also started to wear hair netting and use black socks. Well
good but we just wonder are they as magnanimous in Wisdom as Mahan did
or did they posses Mahan's altruistic qualities? Some people will read and
memorize Mahan's I-God and will rattle off to anyone who wants to hear
Mahan's philosophy. It would be good if these people know what they are
talking about. Mahans mentions in his I-God that it would be better for
people to shine like gold rather than like brass.
