Once in the year 1978, when Mahan was in
Malaysia at the Klang Road Sabhai, some employees of TNB (formerly known as Lembaga Letrik Negara) brought one of their staff to get advice from Mahan. This guy
was exhibiting erratic behavior like getting angry unnecessarily
-scolding anyone at any time--sometimes not talking at all and other
funny behaviors. Mahan advised to take about 5 tablespoons of Aloe-Vera
pounded together with about 3 tablespoons of Fenugreek (Venthium in
Tamil and Halba in Malay)...Apply the mixture on top of the head for 3
hours in the morning for a total of 10 days. If catches cold then on
alternative days the treatment can be done. The scientific reasoning
for this treatment could be that since Aloe Vera and Fenugreek are
extremely cold inciting substances and for inflamed nerves (neurons) it
might cool them enough to elicit a healing response.
Once
in the year 1977 when Mahan was in Malaysia at the Klang Road Sabhai,
one new member had epilepsy (fits). While we were looking for some keys
for the guy to hold--Mahan asked someone to bring some onions. Mahan
crushed the onions in his hand and squeezed the juice into the guys
eyes. In a matter of minutes the guy got up cured temporarily with blood
shot eyes. All these techniques are useful for emergency treatment and in
the absence of modern medical facilities even though they may appear
crude.
Mahan advices everyone esp
housewifes to use crockery like plates, glasses, mugs made of glass. By
using crockery made of glass tends to make one very cautious when using
them as it might break or shatter easily. Over the long run the brain
becomes more alert and cautious even when in dealing in other domestic
situations.
After my initiation in 1976, I recommended to my
friend Rayan and his wife to also get initiated which they did. Rayans
wife was an Indian citizen and a year after the initiation she went to
visit her parents in India. She asked her father to accompany her to
Mahans Sabhai in Tiruvanjuli. Her father was a staunch Christian and of
course did not have any faith in Mahan but because
of his daughter he obliged. At the Sabhai, the father was a bit arrogant
and bluntly told Mahan he did not believe in Kundalini Yoga or its
philosopy.Mahan just laughed it off. After some time with Mahan and when
they were about leave the Sabhai, Mahan warned the man not keep his purse
in the shirt pocket as the area was notorious for pickpockets. The man
brushed off Mahans advise and said rather a bit arrogantly no one can
steal from him and they left. When they reached the Bus Terminal the man
found his pocket empty---his purse has mysteriously vanished or was it
stolen? They had some loose change which they managed to buy the tickets
back home.
Mahan has traveled to numerous countries and have of
course tasted all type of foods.Mahan has also tasted all kinds of food
in India itself. The place and food which really captivated him was in
Thanjavur, South India. He loved the people -the environment and the food
there. He also established a Sabhai there in Tiruvanjuli,Tanjore District. Next
time when visiting India must try out the local dishes in Thanjavur.
During the 70's whenever Mahan comes to Singapore, I will make
it a point to go and stay with him at the Singapore Sabhai .Here are
some experiences. Mahan takes his hot water bath at 7pm daily. I will
prepare the hotwater by using at that time by placing a electric metal
rod in a pail and boil the water. After the water has boiled I will
carefully remove the metal rod and place it in
a safe place and then inform Mahan to take his bath. He likes to use
Pear soap--a fragrant gold coloured soap. Once a week on Wednesdays at
3pm he will have a hair bath and then dry the hair with smoke of
Frankincense (sambrani)..the whole sabhai will be fragrant with an air
of mystical bliss. Mahan brushes his teeth with his index finger. He will
place some tooth-paste at the base of the index finger and will brush
his teeth. Mahan likes perfumes especially Chanel 5 perfume. Breakfast is
usually fruits or juices ----once in a while roti canai. Lunch is at
1.30pm. Mahan will sit on the floor to eat and we will have to follow
suit which is tough for Malaysians not used to sitting on the floor.
